It finally happened on Friday the 10th, we won. That’s right, our Senior High football team beat our neighboring team and rival, after 4 years without a single win. My band friends screamed themselves hoarse. The cheerleaders shared the bus with us, and were leading cheers.
“WHAT DO WE EAT? WHAT DO WE EAT?”
“TIGER MEAT! TIGER MEAT!”
“HOW DO WE LIKE IT? HOW DO WE LIKE IT?”
“RAW, RAW, RAW!”
I couldn’t sleep, and they cheered nonstop for 20 minutes or so, interrupting it with snippets of songs and yelling.
When we got home, there was an impromptu parade with a firetruck and some police cars at down town.
It was a good night.
